PORTUGAL COM ACNUR – FUNDAÇÃO is a non-governmental organization that is about to start its activity (election of office, recruitment of staff, suppliers, etc.) and its objectives are to raise awareness and funds to meet the needs of the most vulnerable refugees and displaced people, supporting UNHCR’s humanitarian aid programs (nutrition, medical care, drinking water and sanitation, education, shelter and basic infrastructures, legal assistance and international protection, etc.). There are currently 79.5 million displaced people and refugees worldwide. UNHCR works in 135 countries to protect and assist them. The candidate will report hierarchically to the Board of Directors and functionally to the General Director of Iberia, and must meet the requirements detailed below, as well as having experience and proven results in the different areas.
Main functions and responsibilities:
1. Establishment and implementation of a new strategy:
Lead and manage the PORTUGAL COM ACNUR – FUNDAÇÃO with full responsibility for the budget line; develop the organization’s strategy and policies; develop and implement an action plan to carry out the agreed strategy; ensure the implementation of a financial plan in line with the objectives of the organization and achieving an appropriate balance between its short and long-term needs and its financial resources; proactive attitude to maximize efficiency and achieve the appropriate level of fundraising to be able to undertake both ongoing and planned projects.
2. Ensuring the achievement of fundraising objectives:
Promote the achievement of fundraising targets as agreed with UNHCR; act as a representative of the PORTUGAL COM ACNUR – FUNDAÇÃO, establishing strong relationships especially with individual and corporate donors and potential donors and ensuring greater recognition of the activities of the PORTUGAL COM ACNUR – FUNDAÇÃO by the corporate and donor communities in Portugal; define and achieve income targets; ensure the existence of adequate and updated database records on donors and potential donors: establish and obtain income and expense budgets, cash flow projections, establish and monitor KPIs; report on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis on income achieved in relation to budget and activities carried out; develop clear and cost-effective expense budgets for specific activities, such as the production of materials or fundraising events and take responsibility for cost control in order to maintain or improve return on investment.
3. Management of internal organization and staff:
Manage the day-to-day activities of the organization; ensure good communication between the different departments; ensure the implementation of an appropriate recruitment process, as well as training and goal setting for employees; developing and maintaining adequate performance, communication and training management, ensuring that there is a reporting system and effective communication with the Board of Directors and with the General Director of Iberia.
4. Communication and external relations:
Maintain effective communication channels with the media; maintain and improve the organization’s agreements and alliances; promote and develop the image of the Foundation; supervise the management of relationships with external professionals, particularly in the legal, auditing and banking areas.
5. Hierarchical and reporting structure:
Regularly inform both the Board of Directors and the General Director of Iberia about everything described above; ensure the implementation of an appropriate management system and structure in the organization: ensure compliance with existing legal regulations for fundraising in Portugal, as well as those relating to health and safety, work, and those concerning disability.
